Call for Abstracts

Submission Deadline

May 29, 2026, 6:00 PM KST

The call for abstracts is now open. We invite abstract submissions for poster presentations and oral presentations for the K-Brain 2026. Please carefully read the following guidelines before submitting your abstract.

Abstract Categories

During submission, submitters must assign their abstract to two of the following categories:

  • Molecular and Cellular Neuroscience
  • Synapses and Circuits
  • Systems and Computational Neuroscience
  • Mechanisms of Brain Disorders
  • Neuroengineering
  • Translational and Clinical Neuroscience
  • Others

Eligibility and Submission Requirements

All abstracts must be submitted online in English through the abstract submission system by the submission deadline. Submissions in languages other than English cannot be processed. Email submissions will not be accepted.

Submitters and presenters must complete their full meeting registration, including payment, in order to submit and present an abstract. Attending co-presenter(s) and co-author(s) must register independently. If you do not have an account from previous KSBNS conferences, please sign up on the K-Brain 2026 website to create a new account.

Each submitter may submit only one abstract. Submitters are responsible for ensuring that all co-authors are aware of and approve the content prior to submission.

Submitters must select one of the following presentation types:

  • Poster presentation
  • Oral presentation
  • Invited session

Poster and oral presentations are open to general abstract submission and are the primary presentation formats for students including graduate, undergraduate, and, in some cases, high school students as well as early-career researchers. Selection for oral presentation does not imply invitation and will be determined by the Scientific Program Committee through the abstract review process.

The Invited session category is reserved exclusively for speakers who have been formally invited by the Scientific Program Committee. This category includes invited lectures, symposia, educational sessions, special sessions, and luncheon seminars. Abstracts submitted under the invited session category without prior official invitation may be reassigned or excluded from consideration. Please note that abstract submission for Invited Sessions may close earlier than submission for poster and oral presentations.

Submitters are strongly encouraged to proofread the abstract carefully for formatting, spelling, and data accuracy before submission. Corrections may be made only before the submission deadline. No revisions will be permitted after the deadline.

Abstract Format

  • The maximum length allowed (including spaces) is as follows:
    • Title: 150 characters
    • Abstract body: 2,000 characters
    • Acknowledgements: 400 characters.

Use sentence-style capitalization—capitalizing only the first letter of the first word and proper nouns—for all inputs, including author names and affiliations, the title, abstract body, and keywords.

Submitters who wish to be considered for awards are requested to provide additional information during abstract submission to demonstrate the significance and impact of the research.

Research Highlights:
  • Highlights should be written as bullet points that clearly convey the main outcomes of the research.
  • A maximum of five highlights may be submitted, with each highlight written as a single sentence.
  • Each highlight should not exceed 90 characters (including spaces).

Graphical Material:
  • One graphical item, such as a graphical abstract or key data figure, with a brief legend
  • The material should support the significance statement and/or research highlights.
  • Accepted file formats are JPG, JPEG, or PDF, with a maximum file size of 10MB.

Please note that, in addition to the general requirements outlined above, each award category may have one or more specific information requirements tailored to its evaluation criteria. Applicants are asked to review the individual award descriptions carefully and to provide any additional information requested for the award they are applying for.

Poster Abstract Submission and Outstanding Poster Awards

All submitted poster abstracts will be reviewed by the KSBNS Scientific Program Committee after the submission deadline. Abstracts may be accepted, rejected or returned for revision.

All students and postdoctoral researchers who are KSBNS members are eligible to apply for the KSBNS Outstanding Poster Awards, regardless of nationality or residency. Applicants must submit an extended abstract that includes research highlights and a graphical material supporting their research, within 1-2 pages. Previous awardees should refrain from applying with similar content.

Following the abstract submission deadline, the KSBNS Scientific Program Committee will conduct a preliminary review to select abstracts as candidates for the KSBNS Outstanding Poster Awards. Submitting authors will be notified by email if their abstracts are selected as candidates. Selected abstracts will be subject to final evaluation by appointed judges during the poster presentation sessions.

The KSBNS Outstanding Poster Awards recognize students and researchers who demonstrate excellence in scientific communication through a well-structured and informative poster that highlights the significance of their research findings. Award recipients will be formally acknowledged during the closing ceremony and will receive a certificate and a cash prize of 100,000 KRW. Awardees must be present at the Closing Ceremony to receive the award.

Oral Abstract Submission and Scitech Korea Best Oral Presentation Awards

The KSBNS Scientific Program Committee will select 10 oral presentations.
